in Canine and Feline Practice. He has
subsequently recertified in 1992 and 2002. In
1980 Brian and his wife, Jean, started Fairport

business aspects of the practice and Brian
concentrating on medicine. His areas of interest
include surgery, cardiology and avian and exotic
medicine. They have one son, David, who is an
architect in Arlington, Virginia. Jean and Brian
live on a small farm in Victor with several horses,
chickens, three goats, three dogs and two African Grey Parrots. When not at the hospital or working on the farm, Brian enjoys boating and his 1971 Olds convertible.
Margaret Zarouba is a native Long
Islander who received her degree from
Ross University. Her main focus of
practice is on small animal medicine and
general health care while showing
considerable interest in dermatology,
ear problems and behavioral issues.
Client education is a priority with
Margaret and trying to help people
understand the causes, progression and
outcome of their pet’s illnesses is
very important to her. “Pets are part of
the family and we want them to be as
comfortable as possible.” She looks to
perform the most optimal care that fits
both the owner and their pet and enjoys following her patient’s progress. In her spare time she enjoys movies, theater, video games and hiking.
Emilia Monachino attended
Rochester Institute of Technology as a
biology major. She graduated with
highest honors in 1998 with a B.S.
degree. She was awarded her DVM
degree from Cornell University in 2002.
Emilia has a special interest in exotics and
wildlife. During her four years at Cornell
she volunteered for the Wildlife Clinic
which repairs injured or sick wildlife for
later release. In addition, she participated
in a voluntary rotation with exotics during
which she assisted the veterinarians at the Burnett Park Zoo in Syracuse, NY. She continues to pursue this interest at Fairport Animal Hospital. Emilia also feels strongly about continuing education and keeping up to date on possible new treatments for old diseases. She currently resides in Penfield with her German shepherd dog, Chloe.
