All of us at Fairport Animal Hospital believe in giving back to our community. We actively participate in many area programs:

· Pet Pride of New York, the Humane Society for Cats Only has asked us to assist them in spaying and neutering feral and homeless cats. We provide this service on a monthly basis.

· Habitat for Cats is another non profit group dealing with the overpopulation of feral cats. We work with them in spaying and neutering cats.

· We participate in the Humane Society of Rochester’s SNIP program which assists low income pet owners in spaying and neutering their cats and dogs.

· We are one of the many hospitals that offer a free new pet exam for owners who adopt a pet from the Humane Society of Rochester.

· We can be seen out in the community at several of the different Rabies Clinics vaccinating pets in the Monroe County area.

· We participate in “High School Internship Programs” offered at several of the local high schools.  This allows high school students who have an interest in the veterinary field to experience what life is like in an animal hospital. These interested students receive school credit for participating. If you are interested check with your school’s guidance counselor.

· Each year we are asked to give tours to local Boy and Girl Scout Troops. These are scheduled in advance in order to accommodate everyone’s needs.

· We have been asked to speak at our local high school’s Career Night on careers in veterinary medicine.

· We work with several licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators in evaluating and treating injured and orphaned wildlife with the intent of releasing them back into the wild.
